How to to Fix your LCD Monitor Tip 1:- Identifying the Problem with the LCD Monitor

Electronic equipment are very complex pieces of devices which tend to develop problems in their lifetime. Most of these problems are however capacitor related. These are small and mostly cylindrical in shape and part of the larger circuit on the motherboard and they are mainly for storing small amounts of energy.

How to to Fix your LCD Monitor Tip 2:- What are capacitors

Capacitors store small amounts of energy so as to smoothen power supply and outlet. They are therefore very important in any electronic device nowadays. The capacitors are also the parts that are most likely to fail due to their heavy use overtime. The problem could lie in a poor capacitor design or the flaws of the electronic device itself. All capacitors irrespective of where they are made from do have their flaws and will fail at one time or the other.

The first thing is to find out if it’s a capacitor problem that is affecting your LCD monitor. You will disassemble the monitor but before you do that, you need to take some pictures of the original device set up so that you will know where everything fits after you are done. You will need to remove the power cable from the power source before you start opening the panel.

The part that is of your interest is the power supply board which is usually located on a separate place from the main motherboard. You can tell this is the power supply unit because the power cord from the mains leads to this area.

How to to Fix your LCD Monitor Tip 3:- How does a defective capacitor look like?

There are several capacitors on this part of the device. You need to inspect all of them at the top on the aluminum covers. Look out for any bulging aluminum lid covers on the capacitors and these are likely the problem (which unfortunately is not always the case). You should take a lot of precaution when handling blown out capacitors. Be sure to use gloves and wash off any part of your body that comes in contact with the capacitor liquid with lots of soap and water.
